Jan. 5th, 2009 @ 04:30 pm Retail fun!
So...I've started to get used to people coming up and asking me "Do you work here?" I mean...one would think the bright, safety orange back belt I wear would give it away...or the fact that I'm stocking the shelves. Oh well...again, I've started to get used to the question and treat it as a greeting when I here it.

Until today, when I was asked that very same question...whilst standing behind the counter at my register...with my HUGE honkin' name tag in full view.

Seriously?!

/sigh

It's the winter solstice in the Northern hemisphere, summer solstice in the Southern hemisphere, and Haiku Day in the U.S. Does that inspire you to write a three-line poem with five syllables in the first and last lines and seven in the middle line?

Nov. 11th, 2008 @ 04:34 pm Likely starting on a new job on Monday
Retail Cashier at Harbor Freight in Laurel.

Not the greatest of jobs...but it's a paycheck and will have to do for now.

I'm still searching for something that will make use of my unique skill-set, and have a few more leads on that side of the fence.

Starting Monday, I will be working at a new location. Not far from where I am now.

Hopefully, this time they'll actually have me doing what I was hired for.

New power supply is installed and is working fine so far.

Now...a friend told me today that I should have picked up something a bit more powerful than 300w, since I'm running a mid-line 512mb video card...I wish he had said something yesterday.

Oh well...my computer has run just fine for over 2.5 years with a 300w power supply so I think I should be fine.

Only complaint I have is that the connector that attaches to the hard drive is a little too big and ends up pushing against the side plate of my tower...hopefully that doesn't fuck things up.

Thanks to everyone for the help/advice/useful links!

I ordered my new power supply at about 12:30 yesterday and within 24 hours, it was sitting on my doorstep.

Now all I have to do is finish my work day and hope I don't fuck it up when I try to install it! :p

Ok...so some have already seen Nan's post regarding my PC.

Here's some more detail.

I don't power down my PC, I just log off via the start menu (I run XP.) It was plugged into a surge protector; not a normal power strip type device, but a 6-socket box that plugs directly into the wall and covers up the wall socket. It even has a little green light on it labeled "Protected." Apparently not...

My speakers, monitor, router and modem are all plugged into the same surge protector as well and are all working just fine.

Pressing the power button gets absolutely no response, except for the mechanical "click" the button makes when I press it :P

There is a blinking green light on the back of my power supply. (Is that a battery light?)

Is it possible that it's not the power supply that's dead and simply the connection that runs from the power button to the power supply?
